What is Better Together?

Better Together explores the meaning of resilience and the role of emergency management, and helps individuals develop personal skills and connections to navigate emergency situations.

The program consists of three workshops and features a mosaic of interactive exercises, group discussions, guest speakers, and activities aimed at developing a mindset of resilience in the context of a variety of hazards. Participants who complete the workshop series will be better equipped to build resilience in their communities and increase capacity to help protect themselves, their family, and their neighbors during any emergency.

How to get involved?

The Better Together workshop series will be offered a total of five times in 2017, in: April (City of Boulder), June (Lafayette), September (City of Boulder), October (Unincorporated Boulder County), and November (City of Boulder).

To register, please apply for the section you are interested in participating in by filling out the corresponding application. Each section is limited to a maximum of 25 participants. The first 25 people with desired availability (i.e. are available to attend all three classes) and thoughtful responses will be accepted.

Better Together was an extremely educational course. I'm new to Boulder and I learned a lot about specific threats to our community and how to be as prepared as possible. I really enjoyed the teaching style of the facilitators and the guest speakers who came in to offer their expertise. Because of the course, I also feel more confident about making intentional connections with my community. I would highly reccomend this class!

Better Together was a great experience for me, especially as a first time home buyer and a person who was affected in the 2013 floods. I didn't want to be in a situation where I had no idea what I was doing, and thankfully, the course helped empower me with a foundation of knowledge in a fun and interactive way. The biggest takeaway for me was the importance of cultivating resilient neighborhoods, and I'm so grateful something that came out of the class was meeting more of my neighbors. I discovered that I live in an incredible, supportive community, and want to continue to grow our resilience and neighborhood spirit. I feel better prepared now to tackle whatever challenge gets thrown my way.
